此詩曾被誤傳為詩人泰戈爾的作品，其實第一段是張小嫻所作。
引用張小嫻短篇小說《荷包裡的單人床》，有類似的語句：
世界上最遙遠的距離，不是生與死的距離，不是天各一方，而是，我就站在你面前，你卻不知道我愛你。
後來被一群台灣學生改編了「集體創作接龍 」原本也不是英文詩，後來被翻譯成英文的。
不管為誰所著，都是一首淒美經典的愛情詩。
